Planning an Event Helen P Fri, 27/02/2026 - 13:01 Design PDFs Project Creativity text final version_1.pdf

From cave paintings to illustrated books, crafts people, designers, artists and illustrators have often been inspired by nature.  This design aimed to offer people the opportunity to release their creative potential in a setting that has been developed using permaculture ethics and principles.  The event was to run for a day with resources available to encourage the clients to explore printing and other media inspired by what they saw around them.

The design uses the Dragon Dreaming Framework  (Ref. Dragon Dreaming Project Design located at:  https://dragondreaming.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/DragonDreaming_eBook_english_V02.09.pdf) as this best suited the phases the project took from dreaming, to planning followed by doing and finally celebrating.  The dreaming started in 2024 when I attended a creative writing event looking at climate change.  I met a person with similar aims at another writing event early in 2025 and we began to collaborate with the aim of planning an event.  This did not materialise as we had no clients so I continued the planning alone and managed to run an event in late June which was celebrated with two clients later exhibiting their work.

The theme of the event was creativity and nature – in particular acknowledging how climate change may be affecting the biodiversity.  It combined health and well-being with education through active learning.

The project used all Holmgren's principles except 'Uses edges and values the marginal', and was evaualted using the Roses, Thorns and Buds tool.  Other tools included Client checklist, Marketing tools, SWOC analysis, Lesson plans and worksheets,

Since the initial implementation on 28th June, 2025 at my home in North Wales, there have been two other events delivered with different clients and there are plans for future sessions.
