Join one of our Design to Thrive 12 day PDC courses, This course is for anyone looking to apply permaculture design practically at home, in the community, or in professional projects.
Through hands on experience, explore the natural world while delving into the ethics and principles of permaculture. Familiarise yourself with a design framework that can be applied to projects of any scale, whether in your garden, within your community & council, or internationally .
Be empowered to use the permaculture design framework to create projects which will bring positive change to your own life , to communities and to the natural world
The course invites us to observe nature and its ecological functions, apply ethics and principles and design for positive change
The course combines discussions, reflective practice, practical activities in nature and real-world project design giving you skills you can put into action.
You can choose to attend an intensive course which last just over 2 weeks ( see other listings) or this course which runs on 6 weekends throughout the year April to October
On this course additional support sessions are offered to students at their own convenience throughout the year.
On successful completion, students are awarded a certificate accredited by the Permaculture Association, recognised nationally and globally. The Permaculture Design Course (PDC) also enables students to study a Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design
The Venue and Location: Community Roots CIC , Porthtowan Set close to the wild North Cliffs Community Roots is a vibrant local food hub and an inspiring place to explore the practical application of permaculture design.
The site produces food with and for the community and encourages engagement with local people, projects and initiatives.
Training sessions will be held in the community garden, at the ecopark site, as well as on the coast and local beaches . We will also visit other local projects during the course.
As well as learning how to use the design framework for food growing and ecological regeneration , we will be also be designing for people and community . Through exploring marine ecosystems we will also design for the ocean.
After class and on the weekends surfing is possible too, and optional yoga, sauna ,music and dancing is often on offer at the neighbouring Mount Pleasant Ecopark with campsite.
