Course summary

This is an integrally-informed place-based modular PDC located at the edge of the Protected Nature Park in mountainous Andalusia, Spain.

WHERE: The village of Velez-Blanco, situated at 1000m above sea level is a spectacular gateway to the Sierra Maria Los Velez, with picturesque valleys and dramatic erosive mountain formations. The village is remarkable for its white-washed labyrinthine architecture, water resources and almond and olive terraced land.

START: Starting from 22nd March 2026, 9x Sundays a year, each month will cover different sections of the PDC curriculum, based on the seasonal activity themes placed between three scales of regenerative design:

a biophillic peri-urban house at the edge of town and terraced farmland; adjacent wild ivy park with a cascading stream connection to mountains and valleys; cooperating fincas and edible gardens of local friends and neighbours.

EACH CLASS comprises a coherent thematic, theoretical and practical module and lasts 4h with a tea and snacks break. The language of instruction is English with Spanish intermingled, delivered in simple and experiential manner.

PARTICIPANTS: come mainly from the village community and local valley. Travelling permaculture practitioners, diploma apprentices and collaborating teachers are both invited and welcome.

CERTIFICATION: both local and visiting participants can undertake the modular PDC journey under the supervision of Joanna Bojczewska. Terms and scope would be dependent on self-study capacity and permaculture experience to date. Learning experiences from own permaculture application or courses with other teachers can be validated as complemetary PDC modules, provided due documentation is supplied in a pre-given format. For further information, contact Joanna: joanbo@posteo.net, wild.ivy@posteo.net
