This course brings together the PDC curriculum for design thinking and community learning, with the Ediculture curriculum for practical food growing skills, and daily activities to embody your learning. It weaves land, food systems and social ecology with the lived experience of the body, recognising that sustainable design is something we plan and analyse, and also something we feel, practise and live.
Held over 2 residential sessions in May and July 2026 at the beautiful Coed Hills community and rural arts space (the venue for the 2012 national permaculture convergence), this course balances the practical, the theoretical and the inspirational. It will give you tools, techniques and principles tailored to your way of thinking and working whether you are more hands-on, reflective, energetic or steady, and aligned with your diet and lifestyle. The focus is on being both ambitious and realistic with yourself, to identify and focus on what you can achieve given your own personal constraints. two online calls between the residential sessions and two co-coaching calls after the course will support individual and group learning, and support you to integrate permaculture into your life after the course. The theoretical – supplies you with a comprehensive set of principles, tools and methods for applying to problems and solutions in all areas of your life, from gardening to lifestyle choices, and from your learning pathway to your livelihood and work situation. It aims to give an overview of the breadth and depth of the whole subject. The practical – focuses strongly on tools and techniques for food growing, effective communication, personal and collective reflection, collaborative working and healthy living. It aims to embody the theory in concrete living practice and informs and guides the theory.
